One of my favorite quotes is …
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever does.” ~ Margaret Mead
I have an opportunity every day to work with many dedicated groups with a mission of making a difference – whether it is my colleagues at Northwest AEA or the schools I work with. Together we are ensuring student receive a quality education.
Last night I had the opportunity take part in an event that will help many students in our area start the school year well prepare. A team of friends joined dozens of others to stuff backpacks with school supplies as part of our local Gospel Mission’s “We’ve Got Your Back” program. In assembly line fashion our team stuffed hundreds of backpacks complete with spiral notebooks, folders, crayons, pencils, glue and a ruler! We envisioned the smiles of the recipients as we worked. These supplies may seem simple to many, but for families already struggling to make ends meet – this may provide some peace of mind.
As the school year begins for many, may we all continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. That difference can come in many forms. Who’s life will you touch? How will you make a difference?
This is a video clip one of the schools I work with plans to use at the start of the school year. The staff will review the focus areas for the upcoming school year and begin their journey on strengthening their sense of collective efficacy. Together this thoughtful group of committed staff can change the world for the students and families they serve.
“Out of the mouths of babes!” as well as “Anything is possible!” Kathy, this fits so well with your blog!
